Practicing Yoga in Bali was amazing. I honestly thought it couldn't get any better. I've never heard of Lombok as a yoga island but rather as a surfer island. But then I found the most amazing yoga place, with a breathtaking view while practicing, awesome and super nice teachers and the most amazing fresh food. Ashtari Yoga really got me stoked.
During my time in Luang Prabang, Loas, I met the traveling yoga teacher Tasha. She was teaching Vinyasa yoga at Utopia Bar, where I happened to take classes. I talked to Tasha after class and felt immediately connected to her. However, I guess she is the type of girl who can connect easily with anybody. That's just the type of person she is. I found her story of being a traveling yoga teacher absolutely inspiring so when she agreed to this interview I was more than happy. I hope that you too will find it interesting.
Right now, there seems to be no better place to practice yoga than Bali. More specifically Ubud. During my travels, I visited the yoga mecca myself to see if it was worth the hype. And it was. I tested several different yoga studios to see which suited my style best and did yoga on a daily basis. There is just something about Ubud that makes you want to get on your mat everyday, drink smoothies and eat clean. Maybe it’s the strong community, some sort of positive peer pressure that makes you want to change your lifestyle forever. Whatever it was, I didn’t mind it. Read here all about my yoga experience and about the studios I tried out in Ubud.
Yoga at Utopia Bar was an amazing experience. I got the recommendation to go there by our lovely host and she had only but praise for the place. When I got there I wasn't disappointed. The class took place on a beautiful terrace with view on the river and palm trees. In this post, I gathered all the information you might need if you want to experience this one of a kind class yourself.
In January I became a freelancer, in March I packed my bag to make use of my newfound freedom. I wanted to try out a different lifestyle. One, that wasn’t dictated by work or anything else. What I found was a deep, deep satisfaction with my life and the ability to take in risks and loving the uncertainty. Alongside, I was able to practice a whole lot of yoga in the yoga mecca Bali, I visited the most beautiful countries and met so many interesting people. Here's my full story of how I started a new and exciting chapter in my life.
Practicing Yoga in Thailand was a whole new experience for me. I am very used to the 'western' yoga style, but the way Thais do yoga is very different. Yet I absolutely loved it. It was challenging, sometimes even a little painfull, but it showed me that I can actually go much further beyond my limits and go deeper into the poses than I thought I could. This helped me so much in my yoga practice as it gave me new strength and new confidence. Read here all about my experiences with yoga ananda in Chiangmai, Thailand.
